Yksi elämä (One Life)

A nation-wide effort to increase health

Through the Yksi elämä -project, The Finnish Brain Association, Diabetes Association, and Heart Association wanted to promote a Finland-wide mass movement of healthier choices.

Desire to change

The goal was to make Finland a healthier place to live.

The vision

Ellun Kanat brought a new way of thinking and doing health communications for the collaboration. We helped the associations to utilise the basic tools of communications in their project such as creating and maintaining media contacts and social media. We formed best practises for fast and active opportunity communication which supported the associations in grasping topical themes with an unique tone of voice and touch. In addition, we created inspiring ways for the target groups to take part in the communal work.

We advised the associations to form and share the necessary information about decision making, and to versatilely communicate it forward to the decision makers by using party conferences and SuomiAreena. We built a Puhutaan Rahasta (Let’s talk about money) seminar concept for influencers and national pop up events Unelmien Liikuntapäivä (The sports day of dreams) as well as Unelmien työpäivä (The working day of dreams), among with suitable participation opportunities for companies. The Unelmien Liikuntapäivä event attracted more than 2000 different sports events and more than 200 000 participants.

The Change

The project became a trailblazer for health communications. The associations have created a common voice for promoting health, and the cost effects of health decisions have been brought to the awareness of decision makers. Hundreds of thousands of people have participated in the effort to improve citizens’ health and by that also been part of advancing the spread of healthier choices further.
